Sound of music at White Rock.

Musicians play specially adapted set for people with dementia

Monday 2nd October 2017

White Rock danced to the tunes of FolkActive  (Jigfoot) this afternoon. Musicians Jo and Cathy played music of the South Downs on traditional instruments. Their specially adapted set was designed for residents who suffer from dementia. All were encouraged to join in with singing, spoon playing and basic tap dances performed on small wooden boards.

The residents’ faces lit up at the sounds of familiar folksongs, Molly Malone, My bonnie lies over the ocean and all enjoyed playing the wooden spoons.
